Campaign Action Team

From vanishing open spaces to poor air and water quality, STATE faces serious environmental challenges. Meeting these challenges takes more than just awareness and a desire to do the right thing. It takes skill, determination, and strategic action.

That’s why Environment STATE has teamed up with state environmental groups in 17 other states to create the Campaign Action Team.

We're hiring recent college graduates to jump in and help win campaigns with Environment STATE or one of our partner groups. By working together, our network of groups has passed laws to put cleaner cars on the road in nine states. We’ve secured land conservation funding in three states, and put STATE on track to build a million solar-powered homes over the next decade.

The Campaign Action Team begins with a week-long training in Washington, D.C. You’ll then join a two-month campaign working on a hot environmental issue. You'll build popular support for clean, renewable energy in Pennsylvania; or work to pass a ballot initiative on open spaces in Colorado; or work to defeat anti-environmental legislation moving through Congress. Your responsibilities could include building a network of coalitions, drawing media attention to the issue, building grassroots support and funding, lobbying decision-makers, and more.

You’ll get a chance to work with some of the top environmental advocates and organizers in the country, and you’ll have an immediate impact on a critical environmental issue.

And the Campaign Action Team is a great entry point to working with our network of organizations for the long term. Many team members continue in positions with Environment STATE or one of our partner groups after their first campaign.

Salary and Benefits
Salary for the Campaign Action Team is based on an annual salary of $23,750. Staff are strongly encouraged to opt into our group health plan, and you’ll be eligible to apply for college loan assistance after three months on staff. Staff accrue two weeks paid vacation over the course of their first year. In addition to a week-long classroom training in Washington, D.C., on-the-job training will continue throughout your time working with the state environment groups.
